Makerhood’s aim is to create connections – between different local makers, between makers and local businesses, and between makers and the local community. They believe this is good for us as individuals and for our communities, our economy and our environment.

Who are they?
Makerhood members are local people from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds, united by our passion for creativity, skills, and sustainable consumption who came together to launch Makerhood in Brixton in 2010. The project has been growing ever since, with more people joining, volunteering and making new friends in the community. Westarted a new makers’ group in Norwood in 2012, and in 2013 expanded our work across Lambeth. We are also supporting a new Makerhood Battersea pilot in Wandsworth.
L’Arche London UK
L’Arche London is a community of more than 100 people with and without learning disabilities. We have been based in West Norwood in South London since 1977.
We provide registered care, supported housing and specialist day services to help people with disabilities live fulfilled lives. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and are one of Lambeth’s approved providers for care for adults with learning disabilities.
We live, work and celebrate together. We give time to practical, emotional and spiritual needs. Some of our team have been with L’Arche for over 30 years and we’re committed to far more than service provision.
Communities around the world share this common philosophy and approach while reflecting the ethnic, cultural and religious composition of the areas in which they exist.
The Stitch is a regular meet up of people who want to knit, sew, tailor, upholster and craft together. A chance to share and learn skills, swap tips and get inspiration for your next creation. Bring your projects, learn the basics, improve your techniques and enjoy stitching in the company of others.
They meet each Saturday 11am – 2pm.

West Norwood Bzz Garage
Starting with a space outside the Norwood Bus Garage on Knights Hill, a group of 35 people came together to create a beautiful bee friendly garden – from idea to project in 3 weeks!
They are constantly looking for more plots to plant and more people who would enjoy coming together to turn the whole of West Norwood into a shared garden. Flowers, fruits and urban wildlife. A project created by Wayne Trevor and Justina Adomaviciute
