Limited edition digital prints

Mid-century graphic designer, art lovers and curious collectors who have lived and journeyed across four continents discovering visually fascinating objets d’art, craft, ephemera and tastes.

Our raison d’être is to ‘revive, share, inspire’ giving beautiful often ignored artifacts a new beginning.

This selection of limited edition prints is part of an on-going series of images influenced by obscure ‘street art’ from our travels, which have been digitally re-worked to capture the vibrance, texture and energy of those places.

    Bill Hull
    Freelance Photographer & Visual Designer

When I started in photography, large format plate and rostrum sheet film cameras were normal in studios. I processed and printed (darkroom work) with such formats, in my personal and freelance work I’ve used 35mm SLR’s and large format 6×6 cm twin-lens film cameras. I am familiar with both old and new techniques. Manipulation and enhancement in the past was completed in darkrooms and or as screen prints, but nowadays I use DSLR’s and digital applications, such as Adobe’s Creative Suite – PhotoShop, Illustrator; Lightroom, Affinity – Photo/Design, etc.

For more than forty years, I have been working as a photographer in London, England, a location that is reflected in my work. I try to capture my part of the world as I observe it and sometimes play with the results (retouch, enhance and manipulate images). I presently sell my work as prints (enlargements) and greetings cards to local businesses including, for example, giftware shops, florists, bookshops and art framers in London at locations of Clapham, Dulwich, Herne Hill and Brixton together with distribution throughout the UK and internationally to offices and homes in the USA and Australia.

      Speciality work includes

      • Product placement studio pack-shots (still-life); studio location food photography/videos; studio location portraits
      • Public relations (PR)
      • Digital image manipulation; processing; retouching; enhancements
      • Teaching photography
      • Land/City/Sea and Waterscapes

      Other skills

      • Typography;
      • DTP/design & scanning;
      • Information technology on Macs
      • Screen printing
      • Pre/post-production video camera & editing

In my work as a commercial freelance food photographer/video cameraman, I contributed to the publishers Thomson and Cengage, for their Professional Chef and Food & Beverage Services range of books and online videos. I have also taught photography and darkroom skills to others, running courses that demystify photography and simplifying the developing process to all ages and abilities.

      Janet Rich

      Paintings – Mosaics – Workshops

Janet takes her inspiration from the natural world. Her abstract paintings are a reflection of this. Each one unique, they pulse to a rhythmic, intuitive and felt sense. She aims to cultivate this energy and spirit in her workshops and groups, where process and fun are more important than the finished object.

Original brightly coloured, hand painted images in gouache on paper in wooden frame. Mosaic tiles decorated with buttons, beads and various colourful, interesting bits and pieces.

Other works include A4 framed prints of charcoal, ink, pastel drawings and photos. As well as producing her own work Janet is an artist/therapist supporting individuals and groups to find their creativity using a variety of media and techniques.

L’Arche & RPS Christmas Fayre call out for Makers to come join us.

The L’Arche charitable community and local maker collective Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) are holding their first Christmas Fayre at the L’Arche Garden in West Norwood on Sunday 22 November.  In addition to selling L’Arche and RPS art and craft work, limited space is being offered to other local makers. (see below for map and photos of the Garden).

L'Arche and RPS Christmas Fayre flyer

Up to 12 tables/sections of tables will be available, each with average dimensions of approximately 3 ft by 4 ft.  A variety of tables will be provided in and around the garden of the L’Arche community lodge at 21 Idmiston Road SE27, located inside the garden workshop and greenhouse and outdoors.  While L’Arche will provide the tables and have some tarpaulins and a gazebo to provide protection in the event of bad weather, makers may wish to bring their own covers/gazebos (subject to size and garden location).

Each table/space will cost £15 and all of the fees will go directly to the L’Arche charity.

Further information about L’Arche and RPS, including photos of the L’Arche Garden, can be found at: http://www.larche.org.uk

You can keep up to date on this collaboration via L’Arche and RPS Facebook pages – click images below to visit and follow!

L’Arche will be selling cards, candles and wreaths made by the charity community, so other makers are asked to offer a different range of products.  If you are interested in taking part in the fayre, please email both garden.london@larche.org.uk and makers@rockpaperscissorslondon.co.uk with a description of the work you propose to sell – including photographs, links to your website/blog posts/social media feeds – and an indication of how many tables/spaces you want to hire, confirmation of your public/product liability insurance, etc.

We would be grateful to receive your email enquiry as soon as possible before 4.00pm on Sunday 1 November please, in order that L’Arche can consider the ideal range of products.  If you are offered space at the fayre, you will be asked to provide payment in person at the L’Arche shop on Norwood High Street or via BACS payment by 4.00pm on Sunday 8 November (please note that fees will be non-refundable after Sunday 8 November).

Many thanks and we shall hopefully meet you soon.

Fab Candles at L’Arche Craft Workshop

The Candle making workshop at L’Arche in West Norwood was a great success – lots of people came and another workshop is being planned!

Some people asked if it was every weekend!

Here are some photos of the day – lots of lovely candles and a few ice candles were made too (the round ones with ‘holes’ in them which are beautiful) – the workshop was suppose to last a couple of hours but it went on all day – some people had to go back in order to finish the candles.

Another workshop will happen possibly the last week of November but we will post up information soon. (see below for L’Arche social media links and for Rock Paper Scissors & The Stitch who will be posting when it will be)

YES! L’Arche and Rock Paper Scissors London are relaunching their shop in West Norwood next Thursday and we would love you to come for wine and nibbles… yum!

We may still be knee deep in paint, wood shavings and tools we are determined to be up and running whilst looking as stylish as possible.

Here’s some more photos of our refurb – L’Arche staff member Paul who also runs the Garden and lots more is a very handy man and is literally building shelving and the displays himself whilst a few RPS members faff about with paint ;-P

We even roped in Aiden who had some spare time between meetings – did you know that L’Arche have been in that building for 40 years (L’Arche will be celebrating their 50th year soon!) and Aiden is the person raising funds to help improve their entire building as there are a few damp spots and crumbling bits so the place will be decorated again but it could be a few years before they have raised enough funds to do so.

So pleased that Paul has organised a new carpet… can’t wait to see that installed… here’s a reminder of the old one… ick…

        L'Arche-RPS-DIY-230915-003

new carpet soon! thankfully. we had to fill in some holes in the floor and used some spare RPS leaflets to cover them otherwise people stepped in them!

So please come and visit us to say hi and have a nose at the new shiny white space on Thursday 1st October from 6pm – wine and nibbles (think there is some home baked goodies too!) included 😀

        update: 30th September…

Apparently, there are shelving units that hate being painted and  repeatedly tries to repel it even after a coat of primer… gargh!

The night before the launch and we think that we will have it fairly presentable 🙂 if still needs work afterwards we think the wine, cakes, cakepops, snacks, nibbles and healthy stuff will make up for it 😀

Here’s some more photos and we have lots to do in the morning to be ready at 6pm!

        Cleaner and greener community award

        • Wayne Trevor

Wayne volunteered at the West Norwood Feasts, ran a Trade School growing edible flowers, and has helped local residents with their gardens. For the past year Wayne has dedicated a vast amount of time on a new project called the West Norwood Bzz Garage. He approached the garage and got their permission to transform the space with attractive bee-friendly plants.

(quoted from Love Lambeth Website – please visit the Love Lambeth Website to see the other winners – well done everyone!

Wayne receiving his award from the Mayor of Lambeth

Wayne receiving his award from the Mayor of Lambeth

Wayne’s project was part of The Open Works scheme to help people in the community to kick start their ideas and help them network with others – the Rock Paper Scissors London group was also part of this and The Stitch too – there are many other groups that are still growing from the Lambeth project which you can read more about it here. The Open Works you will also find their report – which is very stylish and huge! and goes into the why and how plus on how to expand the project to the other parts of the UK!

Please note the photos are from the sites you can visit by clicking on the images – I was unable to see names of who took them so if you know then I can credit them on this blog post.

This blog post has also been posted on The Stitch website – Wayne helped the Stitch members to harvest the Lavender outside the West Norwood Bus Station to use for their crafts and helped drag all their materials and sewing machines to their storage place, so he is a very helpful man! 😀

        L’Arche Shop redecoration continued…

        L’Arche Shop redecoration continued…

Agnes (RPS member) and Paul (L’Arche staff) started early on Saturday – I turned up several hours late as neighbours decided to have a rave 🙁

They removed all the stock left in the shop and dismantling shelves… so many staples in everything… when I finally arrived I pulled out a few staples as Agnes was hanging from the ceiling removing several hundred of the things but I really didn’t do much, just watched really.

On Monday I did manage to remove several more hundred from the shelves and I think I missed some… still found more on the window area on Tuesday… seriously… someone needs banning from the staple gun. I understand, I really do, I would love a staple gun!

I’ve received reports today that the painting is now done and we are just waiting for fitted shelving to be organised, cut and fixed before they get painted… plus the inside window could be removed soon – fingers crossed as I think that will help transform the small shop.

I doubt Saturday will have any decorating done as it’s L’Arche Garden Open Day 12-5pm and L’Arche staff will be busy – a few RPS members plan to go and Elaine (Bunting & Pops) husband will be there with his band, I will also be going as I want to take photos! (Lenny – RunnyCustard) – The Stitch session will be held in the workshops so there’s plenty to see this weekend!
